Varnish!!

Finally got the first coat of varnish on the deck. actually, 2 coats separated by about 2 hours. I’m using a varnish I get at Wal-mart. It is by Minwax and is really a urethane.  It’s called Helmsman Spar Urethane, and has UV protection. Not real easy to apply, but got [...]

End pour of the modified Great Auk

Doing the end pour today, it is mostly minicell foam so it won’t add too much weight to the boat. The boat has been sanded to 220 grit and is very close to being ready for varnish.
