Deck starting to take shape
Good to see Anton got the bug, now there’s no hope for him.
I’ve put 11 Strips on the deck, it’s starting to take shape. Can start to see the lines a bit better. I put a redwood strip down for the middle, flanked by 3 red cedar and then another redwood, I’ll repeat the process until the top is closed. As usual, click on the photo if you want to see more.
Good building all..

Looking Good Tony. It’ll be interesting to see how this one paddles for you vs. the folder.

Thanks Bryan,
Yeah, me too on how it handles, it’s the first of it’s design. The folder was pretty forgiving as long as I didn’t go too crazy. Still a bit tender though. Hoping for a bit more stability on this one, but will live with what I get..
Take care, and stay tuned… more tomorrow..

What I’m more curious about is the rocker. With the folder, I imagine that some rocker is added when you sit in the kayak. With this one, there won’t be. Should make for an interesting thoughts.

Yes, it is pretty straight on the keel, station 9 is at ‘0′ and stations 3 and 14 are up 1 inch from that. Go out another foot and Station 2 is at 2.7 inches and 15 is at 1.5 inches so not much rocker. As narrow as it is, I’m not looking for it to carve a turn as well as the great auk hull, and I sure hope it doesn’t bend like a SOF.
It should be a pretty fast boat that is easy to roll. We’ll see, After I try it out, I’m going to put Kurt Maurer in it for definative testing.
Later..
