Rigging the Sea Ranger

Yeah, I know it’s about time I did it. Anyway, here’s what I have done so far:

1.) bungee on the front end with a bead to hold the paddle.

2.) 4 bungees just ahead of the cockpit to hold lord knows what

3.) hip and knee pads in the cockpit

Still to go is bungees behind the cockpit and one on the tail end with a bead… Actually a wooden ball. I knew a guy with a wooden leg once, but….. oh never mind..

Here’s a picture with more if ya want just by clicking on this one.

  • Looks good. Time to start planning for the next kayak :)

  • What about perimeter deck lines?

  • May pass on the perimeter lines .. for now at least, can add them later. There isn’t much room between the coaming and the shear area. We’ll see how it goes with a few practice rescues and re-entries and go from there.

  • Hello Tony,

I have been watching your progress. I am impressed by the detail you show.

Please dont stop, far to many people hide thier experiance.

I have begun my first strip plank Kayak, I thought prieviously it was to hard. I have had some exposure to stitch and glue. I will see how I go.

So far I have drafted my design, made the stands (with an Innovative twist), set the back bone, cut out the ribs and begun fixing the ribs to the back bone.

I would like to post some photo’s soon on my web gallery.

I hope to see more of your building soon,

    MikeS

  • Thanks Mike, we’ll be posting kayak building and paddling related articles here as we can. Let me know when you get your pictures up and we’ll check them out!
