Received your email, thanks!
I have built a Sea Flea in '07 and she's outgrown it now.. back to build a bigger kayak and a spare for friends to go along if needed.
I love building the kayaks... I am totally hooked!!!
I'll be looking forward to building many more to come!

Thanks for the encouragement... and yes, I may just be back if I "get stuck"..

Warm Smiles, ~Heather

Hi Heather!

Good to see the interest and a mother daughter build. Both Anton and I used the Yost offsets from the internet. Tom uses decimal feet, so .5 would be 6 inches. 0.745 = 8 15/16" Another great spot to keep a watch on is the Kayak Forum, (link to the right..) when there, click on kayak building. Tom Yost frequents that forum quite often and you can probably get some info direct from him. You will see all kinds of building going on there. I told Anton about your post, so you may hear from him too. Here's a guy that built one, http://pawistik.blogspot.com/2008/03/another-kayak-to-build-sea-flea.html

Good luck!.. write back if you get stuck, or need a few words of encouragement!

Hello, My name is Heather.
I am a single mom of my daughter Lilly.
We built Tom Yost's Sea Flea together in 2007 and now we are back to build the Sea Pup.
I am in this adventure myself with no one to help me so I am looking around for a little help.
I am needing help withe the conversion from Tom's offsets converted to something I can understand. Preferebly in inches?
Would you by chance still have the plans from when you built the SeaPup?
I would be quite tickled to hear from you!
Thank you for your time.
Happy Paddling!

Hi Tony,
How are you, I have been very busy starting my own business and have not had the time to build or post.
I have however just completed a design for my Kayak as a stitch and glue and three have been laser cut, we will be recording the build process in detail, (not to your standards but close) and I would like to use your site to promote and publish the process.

It is a kit I hope to sell as a comercialaly viable product, in the future. For now it is a hoby that knows no limits.

My business is in Software and hardware for building automation. However the name CABAK is Canoe and Boat and Kayak, gramaticly incorrect but describes my pasion.

I hope to hear from you soon sorry its been so long, Hi to Anton, I have enjoyed reading your blog.

I could get 3 of my boats in under 100 lbs.

I'm pretty sure the better racks like Thule and Yakima can support considerable more weight. My Thule pillars and bars are rated for 200 lbs and I've carried close to 300 lbs of lumber home on them once.

I still haven't figured out how to get my kayak onto the car. The guy at the moorage warns that while the foam blocks will absolutely protect the boat, they aren't always so good for your car. On the other hand, most car racks will only support around 100 lbs, which easily covers one boat, but not two ... and it's usually a lot more fun with company.
